One of my heroes is a man named Mark Furstenberg. He opened my favorite bakery in DC when he was one month shy of his 76th birthday. See Baking is an Old Man's Game.
The bakery, called Bread Furst, is the kind of place that makes you smile as soon as you walk in the door. The owner, Mark Furstenberg, has the perfect chart for a baker. He is Libra rise with the chart ruler Venus, in the sign Cancer in the 10th house. Venus in Cancer is confections. Venus is conjunct Pluto, so he has a passion for what he does. The bakery has been wildly successful and a great addition to the neighborhood. And with that brilliant Moon in Sagittarius in the third house of siblings, his sister, the late Carla Cohen, founded Politics and Prose, a few blocks north. Two gifts to the neighborhood. And of course neighborhoods are ruled by the third house. The bakery opened its doors on May 6, 2014 at 7:00 am. This chart has Gemini rise, which fits, as everyone can sit down on the patio and chat. Mercury is close to the Ascendant in the 12th house. The Sun in Taurus in the 12th house is in partile (exact) aspect to Jupiter in Cancer on the cusp of the third house, helping to account for the popularity of the bakery. The moon of the bakery chart is in Leo, showing the conviviality in the place. Everyone looks so happy. On the day the bakery opened, Jupiter was conjunct Mark's midheaven, and Uranus was conjunct his Descendant. Lots of new friends! HIs progressed moon was in Libra in the 10th house. The MC was at 29 Virgo, perhaps reflecting the closure of the last Marvelous Market, his old bakery. Mark's Solar Return for 2014 had Jupiter in Cancer in the 6th. Very fitting for such a congenial new workplace. Moon in Sagittarius in the 10th house. He was nurturing not just his employees but the entire Van Ness neighborhood.
In May of 2017 Mark received the James Beard award for Outstanding Baker. He had Sun Venus in Gemini in the 10th house of his Solar return for that year. Solar Arc Pluto was conjunct his Ascendant, and progressed Mercury opposite Jupiter in the 5th. Progressed Venus was trine his natal Sun. All good for honors and awards.
