What can the stars tell us about the 2024 election in the U.S.? I will lay out the various transits, progressions and relevant solar returns. I think it would be helpful to look at the last few elections to see if there is any clues/patterns that can be gleaned from those elections. Then I leave it up to the reader to make their own educated guess on what will happen this fall.
The 2016 U.S. Election
This election pitched Hillary Clinton against Donald Trump. Since Clinton was highly qualified, having been a Senator from New York and Secretary of State under President Obama, and Trump had no political experience whatsoever, the election night on November 8th was a big surprise to many. One person who called it right was Professor Allan Lichtman, who has called all U.S. elections correctly since 1978.
Hillary had transit Uranus quincunx her natal Mercury Ascendant, and transit Mercury to her South Node on the Ascendant. Transit Jupiter was conjunct Neptune. Her Solar Return for that year had 29 Taurus on the MC, an ending point, perhaps pointing to her stepping away from the center stage of US politics. Her progressed Venus was square Chiron. Transit Chiron was passing over her natal Moon in Pisces in the 4th. She won the popular vote, but this is not how U.S. elections currently work. Clinton compared her election loss to “applying for a job and getting 66 million letters of recommendation and losing to a corrupt human tornado. And so I know that he knows that this wasn’t on the level. I don’t know that we’ll ever know what happened.” (Washington Post-Sept. 26, 2019)
Trump had (and this is key) progressed Sun conjunct his natal ascendant at 29 Leo which is the fixed star Regulus, associated with kings. His progressed Midheaven entered Leo (sign of kings) on Feb. 9, 2015. Progressed Moon was conjunct Saturn in December of 2016. By transit Jupiter was at 12 Libra, close to his natal Libra and trine the Sun North Uranus in the 10th house. This Jupiter trine to the Sun was exact by Friday Jan. 20, 2017, the day of the inauguration. Uranus was trine to his Moon in Sagittarius and sextile his Sun. His Solar Return for 2016 has Uranus conjunct the MC. An upset victory, assisted by the Russians.
The 2020 U.S. Election
Trump was the loser in the 2020 election. This time around he had transit Saturn opposite his Venus (ruler of 10th) on election day. Neptune by transit formed a t-square to his Sun and Moon. Pluto was opposing his Saturn Venus, and Saturn was quincunx to his Mars. A quincunx is 150 degrees, which is considered a tense aspect. Pluto was also quincunx his Sun at 22 Gemini. His progressed Ascendant was 29 Libra, an ending degree, as his progressed Ascendant went into Scorpio on Nov. 26, 2020. The Solar Return is interesting as it shares some traits with his 2024 Solar Return. The 2020 Solar Return shows Sun on the cusp of the 12th house, square to Mars Neptune Moon in Pisces in the 9th house. Note Neptune prominent as he foments the big lie that he did not lose the election. Chiron is exact on the MC, this is a deep wound to a narcissistic personality who could not accept the idea of loss.
Biden in contrast, won the election, with the winner clear by Nov. 7th. The moon was in Gemini on election day, Nov 3, which I think favors change. On election day Biden had Venus by transit trine his 7th house Saturn and sextile to his Pluto in the 8th. Transit Sun was conjunct his natal Mars in Scorpio. Jupiter was exactly sextile his natal Mercury and in trine to his MC. Saturn was sextile his Sun Venus in Scorpio. The full moon eclipse at 8 Gemini on November 30th was conjunct his Saturn in the 7th house. His progressed MC was 9 Sagittarius, conjunct Juno in the 1st and oppose Saturn in the 7th. His progressed moon was in exact sextile to his progressed Mars.
Biden's Solar Return for 2020 had Sun in the first house, sextile a Pluto Moon Jupiter stellium in Capricorn. Mercury is exactly on the Ascendant. Venus is exactly square to Saturn from the 12th. Leo is on the MC. But here is the really interesting thing about Biden's chart. Saturn and Uranus are both angular, and were retrograde when he was born. Saturn went direct on Sept. 9, 2020, and Uranus went direct on May 27, 2022. These are really major life events. And his Mercury went direct on Christmas Day in 2019, which was a great gift from the cosmos. Look at your own charts to see if you have any major change of directions like this. It is quite revealing.
The 2024 U.S. Election
On election day in 2024, which happens to be Nov. 5, the Moon will be in Capricorn when the polls close. To me, Capricorn augurs some stability and would seem to favor the incumbent. Overall the tone of the election chart for 2024 and the inauguration chart for Jan. 20, 2025 have a distinctly Saturnine tone. This makes sense when both candidates are old. On election day 2024, Biden has Neptune trine his Sun Venus in Scorpio, and Jupiter in the 7th house by transit. Neptune is also trine his Jupiter in the 8th house in Cancer. Mercury, ruler of his 10th house, will be exactly on his Ascendant at 3 Sagittarius. Saturn will be trine his Mars in the 12th. Uranus is opposite his Sun. Uranus transits can go either way. Although Pluto will be square to his moon on election day, it will be trine his Uranus and 7th house cusp, as well as trine his Neptune in the 10th house on inauguration day. Pluto will also be quincunx his North Node at 29 Leo on election day. Mars is at 0 Leo on election day, square to his Moon but sextile Neptune and Uranus. Note also that Jupiter will by transit conjunct Jill Biden's descendant on election day. Inside the Beltway gossip is that she was the force behind his decision to run again.
Biden's progressed Ascendant is opposite Chiron on October 2, 2024. Progressed Moon conjuncts his natal Taurus moon on Sept. 13, 2024. His Ascendant is square to Venus by progression, and Saturn is square to his Ascendant by Solar Arc on October 12, 2024.
Biden's Solar Return for 2024 reflects his transits. Sun oppose Uranus, Sun sextile Pluto, Sun trine Neptune, and Leo on the MC. The Solar Return Moon is in Cancer in the 9th, trine to Saturn.
Trump on election day has the lucky Jupiter he had in 2016, this time it is 20 Gemini conjunct his Sun North Node Uranus in the 10th house. Pluto is 29 Leo in a quincunx to his Ascendant. The full moon in November 2024 will be on his Midheaven Nadir. Uranus is on his Midheaven within a degree. Interesting that both Biden and Trump have a strong Uranus transit on election day. Uranus will be sextile Trump's Venus, ruler of the 10th house, but square to his Mars in the 12th. Hidden enemies? Saturn will be transiting through Trump's 7th house, quincunx Pluto in the 12th.
As to progressions, Trump's progressed Venus will be square to his Saturn, and his progressed Moon at 9 Scorpio will be square to the MC progressed, and square to his natal Pluto in the 12th, exact on Nov. 21st. His Solar Arc Saturn is exactly square to Mercury on election day. Solar Arc Neptune will be conjunct his South Node. Progressed Mercury is square to his MC. Solar Arc Neptune will be conjunct his Moon in March of 2025.
Finally, we need to look at Trump's Solar Return, which I think has a similar theme to his 2020 Solar Return. His SR for this year has Cancer rising. The midheaven is Pisces, and Neptune is in the 10th with Saturn in Pisces in the 9th. Saturn Neptune = MC. Neptune is at 29 Pisces, an ending degree. Saturn Neptune square his Sun Mercury Venus stellium in Gemini in the 12th house. Also, his natal moon is in Virgo in the third house, oppose Saturn in the 9th. Chiron is elevated in the 10th house. It speaks more of some kind of some kind of confinement rather than being in the public eye. How do you weigh this with the other data is the question.
Election Chart
I ran an election chart for 8pm on election night in DC, when the first polls close. Election charts can grant further insight. The one for the 2000 Bush v. Gore election had Mercury retrograde at 29 Libra as the focal point of a yod with Moon in Pisces in the 10th and Saturn in Taurus in the 12th. Rather apt.
The 2024 election chart has Moon in Capricorn on the Descendant, with Saturn exact on the MC. Cancer is rising, Pisces is on the MC. Mars is in Leo in the second house oppose Pluto in the 8th. The Sun is in a trine to Saturn on the MC.This does seem to indicate some sort of stability.
Inauguration Chart
The Saturn theme is repeated in the inauguration chart, which has Venus in Pisces as the chart ruler, conjunct Saturn in the 11th house and Capricorn on the MC. An older President. Perhaps the most intriguing thing about the inauguration chart is the Sun Pluto conjunction in Aquarius in the 10th house. This could mean many things: A Scorpio President, a dictator, a President who does not finish out the term? And note the Mars in Cancer close to the Nadir. It could mean continued unrest at home. That Mars at 24 Cancer is conjunct Biden's Jupiter in the 8th, and Trump's Saturn Venus in the 11th house. Do note that the Moon is in Libra in the 6th house. Hopefully that means some peace. Yes, it is oppose Chiron, but still...
Other relevant transits include Sun Pluto trine the natal Uranus on Biden's 7th house cusp, and his Neptune in the 10th. The same planets are square to his natal Moon. In Trump's chart the Saturn is square Uranus in the 10th, Uranus is sextile his Saturn, on his MC, the moon is conjunct his natal Jupiter.
What do the astrologers think, given a look at the relevant data?
